Student answer (Band 5.0)
Many people believe that playing group sports, for example football, is more beneficial than playing individual sports, such as tennis or swimming. Some people think individual sports are more beneficial than playing in a team. In my opinion, playing individual sports is valuable rather than being apart of a team member. Individual player can display their intelligence also enhance their unique skills. While, playing in a team will hide a player identity also playing in team members does not have any career opportunities.
On the one hand, playing in a team is not beneficial at a certain point, because in team decisions and position in a play often decided by a captain or other poweful team members. If a player wanted to showcase his intelligence and fight fot himself in a team thye will just dismiss the individual player from their team. Especially in football if a famous player is leading the team then the other players are considered as normal people. In addition to this, in football they promote violence and use abusive words towards their team members if they didn't won the match. Finally, these are the main reasons that people should consider playing alone rather than joining a team.
On the other hand, playing individual is more beneficial and people will remember your name instead of cheering you by the team name. There are so many individual sports that will demonstrate your intelligence and also respect and value a player. For example, tennis if a player play tennis and won the match by themselves they will receive huge appreciation and respect from the audience. However, if people play the sports with the team members they will appreciated by your skills and hardwork. It is essential for people to play sports alone to achieve the success by their own.
In conclusion, people play sports in a team often get disappointed because team members not appreciate the player, instead of that they will cheer for their captains and give all the credit to the team and captain. Playing alon

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear preference for individual sports, and the tennis example helps illustrate the recognition an athlete may receive. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the team-sports side is presented almost entirely negatively: decisions made by captains, violence and lack of credit. You do not explain the benefits supporters might see in team sports, such as cooperation, shared motivation or learning to communicate. Your reasons for individual sports—showcasing intelligence and gaining recognition—are also asserted more than developed, and the conclusion repeats the criticism of teams rather than drawing the discussion together. Develop a fair case for each view, then explain why your own position is more convincing. The 13 words copied from the prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, so the reader can identify its broad structure. However, progression within the paragraphs is often unclear: the first body paragraph moves from captain-led decisions to dismissal, then violence, without showing how each point supports the argument. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “In addition to this” provide some signposting, but the contrast is not fully logical because both body paragraphs mainly argue for individual sports. References such as “these” in “these are the main reasons” are also broad. Organise each paragraph around one clear claim, explain it, and connect examples directly to that claim; ensure the conclusion follows from both sides of the discussion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the general argument, including “captain,” “audience,” “appreciation” and “respect.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, which sometimes makes the intended meaning harder to follow. For example, “apart of a team member” does not express the intended contrast clearly, while “hide a player identity” and “playing individual” are awkward formulations. There are also spelling errors such as “poweful” and “thye,” and some repetition of “team,” “player” and “beneficial.” Build a more precise range for discussing teamwork and individual achievement, and check spelling and collocations when editing. More accurate phrasing would make your ideas clearer and more persuasive.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If a player wanted to showcase his intelligence…” and a subordinate clause beginning “because.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “Individual player can display,” “if a player play tennis and won,” and “they will appreciated,” which show problems with articles, agreement and verb forms. The sentence beginning “While, playing in a team…” is also incomplete, and the final sentence is unfinished. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and consistent verb forms. Greater control of these basics would make your argument easier to follow.
