Student answer (Band 5.5)
People have different views regarding the fact that Governments often have to make choices about jobs, business and pollution. Some people say that economic stability and clean environment in a country can be maintained at the same time. Others think that doing all these at once can have impact on the other things and disagree with this fact. This essay will discuss both the perspectives before giving my own opinion.
Firstly, if I talk about the fact that all the choices can be made at once, it's possible to make. Government can appoint differenct departments for a certain thing. The specific department will look after their work. The jobs one will look after the openings needed for smooth running of the work, what would be the rules and regulations of the job. Business one will make the rules which are beneficial for the good growth of the economy of the country from the businesses. The pollution which is the important department, the work of this one is to find the ways by which the pollution can be minimised. Things which make more pollution should be banned and alternative should be there. The head department can be made whose work is to observe what the all the departments are doing.
Furthermore, as we all know that every coin have two sides, so the disadvantages are , the main point is corruption, some business owners can give money to one of the person in the department to pass the illegal rules for there busniess which will be harmful for the consumers. The projects which produce large amount of pollution can be setup and it can result in increase in place of decreasing the pollution.
To conclude, government can focus on all the choices but they should give focus to every choice they make. I think they can do all the things at same time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both views and state your position: the introduction promises to discuss both perspectives, and the conclusion says the government can pursue all the choices at once. The examples of separate departments and possible corruption are relevant to the topic. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The first view is explained mainly through administrative arrangements, without showing clearly how economic stability and environmental protection can work together in practice. The opposing view is also brief and focuses on corruption and polluting projects, rather than explaining more broadly why economic goals may conflict with environmental measures. Develop each view with a specific example and explain its consequences to make your argument more convincing. (The response includes 31 words copied from the task prompt.)
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “To conclude” help signal the stages of the essay. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from departments to jobs, business, pollution, and oversight without clearly connecting these points to economic stability and environmental protection. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “all the choices” and “the other things” are not precise. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a clear sequence. This would make the overall argument easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “economic stability,” “pollution,” “rules and regulations,” and “corruption.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “all the choices,” “the work,” and “the good growth of the economy.” Some word choices and spelling errors may distract the reader, including “differenct,” “busniess,” and “alternative should be there.” Aim for more precise expressions for the relationship between economic activity and environmental protection, and check spelling carefully. For example, “reduce pollution” is more natural than “minimised” in this context, while “introduce cleaner alternatives” would express the proposed solution more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a relative clause in “the ways by which the pollution can be minimised.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to process. Examples include “every coin have two sides” (subject–verb agreement), “the other things” (unclear grammatical reference), and “what the all the departments are doing” (incorrect word order). Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “clean environment” and “one of the person.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention, particularly in the opening, where sentences run together. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
