Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the pie charts. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state that working time increased to 10% in 2008, whereas the charts show an increase from 33% to 42%. Additionally, the term 'Childers' is irrelevant to the data provided, and the description of trends is often confusing or mathematically incorrect. While you attempt to compare the two years, the lack of precision in reporting the figures prevents a clear summary of the information. To improve, focus on accurately transcribing the percentages and ensuring that your comparisons are logically supported by the visual data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore' to link ideas. However, the progression of information is sometimes disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is occasionally mechanical or misused. For example, the transition 'Besides this, very less grown ups residents' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow. The referencing is also unclear at times, particularly when introducing new categories. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help create a more natural and logical flow between your sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'mature population', 'fully grown individuals', and 'very less grown ups residents'. These phrases are not appropriate for an academic report. Furthermore, there are errors in word formation, such as 'Childers' (likely a typo for children, though inappropriate here) and 'spends' used incorrectly as a verb in various contexts. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable', and avoid informal or redundant descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'majority of adults people are spends their time' and 'residents are goes'. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'after 50 years it become 13%'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the placement of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that verb tenses are used consistently when describing past data and trends.
