The pie charts below show how working adults in a particular country spent their time in 1958 and 2008.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The pie charts compares the percentage of the day spent by working adults on various activities in the year 1958 and 2008.

Overall, it can be seen that the highest percentage of time was spent at work by working professionals in both the years.

Initially, 33 percent of the day was spent while working by the working adults which increased significantly to 42% in 2008. The sleeping hours for the adults has decreased by 7 percent from 32% in 1958 to 25% in 2008. However, the figure for relaxing at home has increased from 8 percent in 1958 to 13 percent in 2008.

In 1958, 19 percent of the daytime was spent in outings by the adults which reduced to less than half in 2008. The time for travelling to work was only 2 percent initially which surged to 7 percent in 2008. Almost similar time was spent while playing sports in 1958 and 2008.
