Student answer (Band 5.5)

in the recent year, the time that spent for working is increasing. And, the time for relaxing is increasing too. there are the good point of the change. Bat there are some bad point in this pie charts showing. that is the decrease of the time for sleeping and the time for going out with family or friends. the time for traveling work is increasing. That also to be a reason that decrease the time with their family or friends.

therefore there are some big difference when we compare 1958th with 2008th. For example the worker became works more positively .and the time for caring them is increased to get rid of the time for sleeping. But there is a same point. that is they have an almost same percentage for playing sports. it shows sports going to help the worker's mental care or stress care by working hard in their office.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the data. The description is highly subjective, using terms like 'good point' and 'bad point,' which are inappropriate for an academic report. Furthermore, the analysis of the data is inaccurate; for instance, the claim that time spent working increased significantly is not supported by a clear comparison of the specific percentages provided in the charts. The response lacks a structured approach to reporting main features, and the interpretation of the data is largely speculative rather than analytical. To improve, focus on objective reporting of the data and ensure all key trends are identified and compared accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks a logical structure. There is no clear paragraphing, and the progression of ideas is disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'therefore' and 'for example' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or used to connect unrelated ideas. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. To improve, you should organize your report into a clear introduction, a body paragraph focusing on the main trends, and a concluding summary. Using a wider range of linking words correctly will help improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying on basic structures to describe complex data. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as '1958th' instead of '1958' and 'caring them' which is unclear in this context. The use of informal language like 'good point' and 'bad point' is not suitable for an Academic Task 1 response. To achieve a higher score, you need to use more precise vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'increased significantly,' 'remained stable,' or 'accounted for a larger proportion.' Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns will help you convey information more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the time that spent for working is increasing'), incorrect tense usage, and sentence fragments. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with improper capitalization and misuse of full stops. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Practicing the use of complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
