Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You covered all categories and made relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. The data is accurately reported, such as the increase in working hours from 33% to 42% and the decline in socialising. To reach a higher band, ensure you group the data more effectively; rather than listing every category chronologically, try to group them by trends (e.g., categories that increased versus those that decreased). This would demonstrate a more sophisticated approach to data selection and analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organised with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraph. You used some cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'however', and 'respectively' to link ideas. However, the transition between sentences can feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the progression of ideas flows more naturally. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the body paragraph is quite dense; splitting it into two paragraphs—perhaps one for major trends and one for minor changes—would improve the overall readability and structure of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'accounted for', 'constituted', and 'proportion'. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'activites' and 'ssports', and a few awkward phrasings like 'time spending habits'. To achieve a higher score, aim to use a wider range of less common lexical items and ensure precise collocation. For example, instead of saying 'time spent during working', you could use 'time allocated to professional duties'. Focus on accuracy in spelling and word choice to avoid minor slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'it's proportion' (should be 'its'), 'represented for 32%' (should be 'representing 32%'), and 'futher' (spelling). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive pronouns. While your sentences are generally understandable, increasing the frequency of error-free complex structures will help you move into the higher band range.
