Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the pie charts and makes relevant comparisons between the two years. However, the data reporting is incomplete. You have missed several categories (such as 'leisure' or 'sleeping' for 2008) and failed to provide a comprehensive overview of the shifts in time allocation. While you identified the highest and lowest points, the analysis lacks depth regarding the significant changes in trends. To reach a higher band, ensure all key data points are represented and trends are synthesized more effectively rather than just listing percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, the progression of information feels somewhat mechanical. The final sentence is slightly disjointed and lacks a clear connection to the previous points. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the logical progression of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'allocated', 'consumed', and 'devoted'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'time-spending task' and 'outings with family and friends were at the smallest'. These phrases sound slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'accounted for the largest proportion' or 'experienced a significant increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the ratio of time spent on performing different activities in nations' (which should be more specific) and 'The same percentage of time spent in sports and travelling for work, at about 7% in 2008' (which is a sentence fragment). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for better control over sentence construction and punctuation. Aim for more error-free complex sentences.
