Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all requirements of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You successfully highlighted the significant shifts in working and leisure time. However, the analysis could be improved by grouping the data more effectively rather than listing percentages sequentially. For instance, categorizing activities into 'work-related' and 'leisure' would provide a more analytical overview. While the main trends are clear, the summary could be more comprehensive by highlighting the most striking contrast, such as the inversion of the relationship between working and leisure activities, rather than just stating that working time increased.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'Followed by relaxing time at home...' is a fragment and lacks a clear subject, which disrupts the cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence is grammatically complete would enhance the overall flow and logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dedicated', 'constituted', and 'significantly'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'outing time family and friends' is awkward; 'time spent socializing' or 'time dedicated to social outings' would be more natural. Additionally, 'almost stable' is slightly imprecise; 'remained relatively stable' or 'showed little change' would be more appropriate. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and adverbs to describe trends more precisely will help you reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. For instance, 'time dedicated for outing' should be 'time dedicated to outings', and 'spending lesser time' should be 'spending less time'. There are also issues with sentence fragments, such as 'Followed by relaxing time at home which was 8%'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of complex structures, such as using relative clauses or participle phrases more accurately, would also strengthen your performance.
