Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the pie charts and makes relevant comparisons between the two years. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the increase in working hours, you fail to provide a comprehensive overview of all categories, such as the significant drop in 'going out' or the shift in 'relaxing'. The summary is accurate but lacks the depth required for a higher band, as some data points are presented as a list rather than a synthesized comparison. To improve, ensure you group related data and highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs for each year, and a concluding overview. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1958', 'Additionally', and 'Overall', which help the reader follow the progression. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'the percentage was changed in section of used up time'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the data points more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing like 'spent their time on' and 'the percentage was'. There are also some unnatural collocations, such as 'least proportion of folks' and 'used up time on'. To reach a higher band, try to use more academic synonyms for 'time spent' (e.g., 'time allocation', 'devoted to') and avoid informal terms like 'folks'. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and nouns would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that hinder the fluency of the text. Examples include '32% were recorded for sleeping' (passive voice error), 'shares of individuals were declined' (incorrect passive construction), and 'least time used up on' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is generally fine, but the grammatical slips are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct passive voice construction will help improve your accuracy.
