Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You successfully identify the key trends, such as the increase in working hours and the decline in sleep. However, the overview is slightly weak; it describes the number of activities rather than summarizing the most significant changes or trends. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most striking differences, such as the shift in working hours or the overall redistribution of time. The data is generally accurate, though some phrasing is slightly repetitive.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on each year. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1958', 'In 2008', and 'However', which help the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'The last two activities number was under 10%'. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'increment', and 'declined'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'time spent on working activity rose' (should be 'time spent working') and 'time for sleeping shown drastically hit the lowest' (should be 'time spent sleeping reached its lowest point'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied ways to describe trends would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'there were three activities had highest proportion' and 'a travelling to work'. Additionally, some phrasing is non-standard, such as 'This two sector represented at 6%'. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the overall meaning of the report. To reach a higher band, focus on correcting basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
