Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you mention 'childrens who went out with family and friends' in 1958, but the prompt refers to 'working adults'. Furthermore, you state that relaxing and playing were at the 'same level' in 1958, which is not supported by the data. While you identify the key trends, such as the increase in working hours, the misinterpretation of the subject matter and data points prevents a higher score. Ensure you carefully read the prompt and labels before drafting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Similarly', and 'On the other hand' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring to the data categories. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows naturally from the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors ('extreamly', 'amoung', 'toped', 'siginificantly', 'rie') and word choice issues. Using 'childrens' instead of 'adults' is a significant error in context. You attempt to use some descriptive language like 'considerable change' and 'opposite trend', which is positive. However, the frequent spelling mistakes and imprecise terminology limit the clarity of your report. Focus on proofreading your work to catch basic spelling errors and ensure your vocabulary is contextually accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'during the yearof 1958', 'adult who slept... represented a opposite trend', and 'increased up siginificantly till the percentages of'. These errors, while not always impeding communication, are frequent enough to distract the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately without missing articles or incorrect verb forms.
