Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response effectively identifies the main features of the data and makes relevant comparisons between the two years. You have successfully highlighted the most significant trends, such as the increase in working hours and the sharp decline in socialising. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the overall shifts. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete accuracy; for instance, you mentioned 'sleeping' declined, which is correct, but ensure the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is more seamless. The report covers all parts of the task well and provides a clear, logical summary of the provided information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organised, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two years. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'Subsequently', and 'Similarly' helps guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more thematically rather than just chronologically. For example, you could group activities that increased versus those that decreased to create a more sophisticated flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, including terms like 'drastic decline', 'tripled', and 'popular'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'most popular among all at 33%', which is slightly awkward phrasing. Additionally, the repetition of 'among all' and 'in 1958' makes the writing feel a bit repetitive. To improve, try to vary your reporting verbs and nouns (e.g., 'accounted for', 'represented', 'witnessed a rise'). The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but more precise collocations would elevate the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'sleeping is next' (should be 'was next' for consistency) and 'which more then tripled' (should be 'than'). There are also some punctuation issues, such as comma splices in the overview. While you attempt complex structures, the control is not entirely consistent. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent tense usage when describing past data will help improve your accuracy and overall grammatical range.
