Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given pie chart reveals the information about how working adults spent their time in 1958 and 2008 in particular country .
In 1958, we can clearly see that adults spent their most of time in doing work and similar trend is shown in year 2008 the large portion of time is used to doing their jobs. Going out with friends and family in 1958 is mark for 19% whether it decreases by 13% in the year 2008 and the time shifted towards playing sports which are not seen earlier. In 2008 , sleeping hours are declined by 7% then in 1958. Relaxing at home is accounted for 8% in 1958, in contrast , it rose up by 5% in 2008.
Overall, it is lucid that large portion of time is spend on working by adults in both years 1958 and 2008 , although few time is spend on travelling to work in these two years.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the dominance of work, the comparison of other categories is inconsistent. For instance, you mention 'playing sports' appearing in 2008, but you do not provide the specific data points to support this. Furthermore, the description of the changes (e.g., 'decreases by 13%') is mathematically confusing, as it is unclear if you are referring to percentage points or a relative change. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide clear, accurate data comparisons for all categories mentioned and avoid vague statements like 'few time is spend'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into three paragraphs, which is a standard structure for Task 1. However, the logical flow between sentences is often mechanical. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the use of 'whether' instead of 'whereas'. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'most of time' and 'large portion of time'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'is mark for 19%' and 'sleeping hours are declined'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly opaque. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise verbs to describe trends, such as 'accounted for', 'experienced a decline', or 'remained the most significant activity'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'spent their most of time in doing work', 'is used to doing their jobs', and 'few time is spend'. These errors, particularly with prepositions and verb forms, are noticeable throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice when describing data.
