Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 84 words. This significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some trends, such as the increase in work time, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary. You have omitted several categories from the charts and failed to make meaningful comparisons between the two years. To improve, you must ensure you describe all key features and provide a more thorough analysis to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is very brief, making it difficult to establish a clear logical progression. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and a summary, the lack of paragraphing and the limited use of cohesive devices make the text feel disjointed. The transition between the overview and the specific details is abrupt. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the overview, and the body paragraphs, and incorporate a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'furthermore', 'consequently') to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'proportion', 'time', and 'increased'. There are also persistent errors in word choice, such as using 'there' instead of 'their' throughout the text. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant shift', and ensure you proofread for common homophone errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement and pronoun usage, such as 'they reduced there friends' instead of 'their'. Sentence structures are simple and lack the complexity expected in an academic task. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like 'there/their/they're'. Aim to incorporate a mix of simple and complex sentences to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
