Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data, but it fails to provide a clear overview or effectively highlight the most significant trends. While some comparisons are made, such as the increase in working hours and the decrease in time spent with family, the analysis is often inaccurate or poorly supported by the data. For instance, the claim that 'sleeping routine is a substantial concern of modern youth' is an external interpretation not supported by the charts. Furthermore, the response lacks a clear structure, and the reporting of figures is inconsistent and sometimes confusing, which prevents a fully developed response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and lack clear transitions. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused, such as the abrupt transition 'Thus this show that'. The referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the argument. The overall arrangement of information is somewhat chaotic, with observations jumping between categories without a clear thematic or chronological structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'consumed time' instead of 'spent time' and 'the most part of number of working adults' which is grammatically awkward and imprecise. The student struggles to use less common vocabulary effectively, and the phrasing often sounds unnatural. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the repetitive nature of the language restrict the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('responsibilities also increases'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'In pie chart the percentage of sleeping decreased almost 7%.' The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which further affects the readability of the text. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for grammatical accuracy is required.
