Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence in the second paragraph and fails to cover the 2008 data fully. Because the essay is under the 150-word minimum and remains unfinished, it fails to provide a complete overview or report all main features. The attempt to compare 1958 and 2008 is present but lacks the necessary depth and completion required for a higher band. To improve, you must ensure you complete your analysis of all data points and meet the minimum word count requirement to allow for a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay attempts to use paragraphing, but the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow. While there is an attempt at an overview, the lack of completion makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a basic way, such as 'In 1958' and 'In the same way', but the overall structure is undermined by the unfinished nature of the text. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, finished thought before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'invest their time' are used incorrectly in this context, and there are errors in word choice, such as 'ratio of day' instead of 'proportion of the day'. The use of 'youngsters' is slightly informal for an Academic Task 1 report. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', or 'allocated', and ensure your collocations are natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('youngsters invest', 'people likes') and awkward phrasing ('spent their most time by working'). The sentence structures are generally simple, and the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practice using a wider variety of sentence structures accurately.
