Student answer (Band 5.0)
the pie chart in given data demonstrate how working adults in a specific country spent their time in between 1958 to 2008.
to begin with, in 1958 working adults spent their one third of the day around 33 percent on work but in contrast , they also spent same amount of time on sleeping and around 8 percent on relaxing at home so that was very good for their health.
at that time they barely spent time on travelling to work , so we can assume that around year 1958 the work place was very near to that there workers live. they also very much interested to go out with friends and family that's why they spent almost 20 percent on that.
on the other side , in 2008 the priorities of the working adults and expectations of company from work were increased because of that they spent around 42 percent on working and spent roughly 10 percent on going out and playing sports .additionally, they give only 13 percent of their time to sleep.
overall, as years was passed from 1958 to 2008 the priorities of working adults change drastically.
the working hours ,relaxing time and travelling to work time were increased but in opposite sleeping and going out time were decreased.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify key trends, some interpretations are subjective and unsupported by the data, such as claiming that spending time on hobbies was 'very good for their health' or assuming the proximity of workplaces. These are personal opinions rather than objective reporting. Additionally, the comparison between 1958 and 2008 is somewhat superficial. To improve, focus strictly on the data provided and ensure that all comparisons are grounded in the figures, avoiding external assumptions or personal commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'on the other side' is not the most appropriate transition for comparing data sets, and the use of 'because of that' is slightly awkward. Some sentences are disjointed, and the logical flow between ideas could be smoother. To reach a higher band, work on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'spent their time' and 'very much interested'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'expectations of company from work were increased'. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', or 'a significant shift'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetitive phrasing and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the pie chart in given data'), subject-verb agreement ('as years was passed'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors that, while not completely impeding communication, are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the report. For instance, 'they also very much interested' is missing a verb. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb, and pay closer attention to article usage.
