Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task, but there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, stating that sleeping decreased by '10%' when the charts show a much larger shift, and misinterpreting the 'working' figures, indicates a failure to accurately report the main features. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to the confusing phrasing. While the response covers the categories, the data interpretation is often incorrect or poorly explained, which prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that the data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are made logically between the two years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile', 'On the other hand', and 'To begin with' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or do not logically connect the ideas. For instance, the transition 'According, Traveling to work...' is grammatically and logically incoherent. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not build upon each other effectively. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence follows a logical sequence would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'bar chat' (instead of pie chart) and 'slightly decreased 10%' (which is mathematically confusing). The phrasing 'dropped at 2% activities rather than increased dramatically 7%' is unclear and does not convey the intended meaning effectively. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use terms related to data trends (e.g., 'remained stable', 'increased') with precision. To improve, focus on learning collocations for describing trends, such as 'a significant increase' or 'remained constant'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'Information... are presented', and incorrect preposition usage, such as 'grew at 13%'. Sentence structures are often fragmented or poorly constructed, making the text difficult to read. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences used often contain errors in punctuation and word order. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that prepositions are used correctly with numerical data.
