This pie charts compare the rate of time working adults spent on different activities in a particular country in 1958 and 2008.
Overall, adults spend the majority of their time each day working. While personal and social activities tend to decline beyond 50 years.
In 1958, the predominant time-consuming activity for adults was work, accounting for 33% of their day. This percentage surged to 42% in 2008, indicates the substantial rise in the rate of time adults spent on work over a period of 20 years from 1958 to 2008. Concurrently, the time allocated to pursuing interests or engaging in sports experienced a modest increase from 6% to 8% between the two years. Moreover, time spent on travel to work saw a substantial rise, which quadrupled from 2% in 1958 to 8% in 2008. Similarly, the proportion of time dedicated to relaxing at home rose from 8% in 1958 to 13% in 2008.
Conversely, the time spent on sleeping saw a minor decrease from 32% in 1958 to 25% in 2008. Furthermore, the time spent on socializing or spending time with friends and family notably declined from 19% in 1958 to merely 6% in 2008.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. The overview is clear and highlights the shift towards work-related activities. However, there is a factual error in your analysis: you mention a 'period of 20 years' when the data spans 50 years (1958 to 2008). Additionally, the second sentence of your overview is slightly confusing as it mentions 'beyond 50 years', which is not supported by the data provided. Despite these minor issues, the report is well-structured and addresses the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Conversely', 'Similarly', and 'Moreover' effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the increasing trends from the decreasing ones. The flow of information is generally smooth, although the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be slightly more refined. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'predominant time-consuming activity', 'substantial rise', and 'notable inclination' are used effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'indicates' instead of 'indicating' and the slightly awkward phrasing 'rate of time'. However, these do not impede communication. You show an awareness of style appropriate for an academic report, and your vocabulary is varied enough to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'While personal and social activities tend to decline...' and '...which quadrupled from 2% in 1958 to 8% in 2008'. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'This pie charts' (should be plural 'These') and 'indicates the substantial rise' (should be a participle clause 'indicating'). Despite these occasional errors, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control of punctuation and grammar is generally good, rarely causing any confusion for the reader.
