Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the task. While you have identified some data points, the report is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The description of the data is often inaccurate (e.g., referring to 'teenagers' instead of 'working adults' and misinterpreting the categories). To improve, ensure you cover all categories provided in the charts and provide a clear summary of the most significant changes between the two years. The current analysis is too brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes incorrect way, such as the misuse of 'although' and 'furthermore'. The lack of logical flow makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between 1958 and 2008. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure that linking words are used to connect ideas logically rather than just acting as sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'people' and 'sleep' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'numerous number of people' and 'reach on their work place'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'. Avoid repeating the same words and focus on using more precise terminology to describe the trends shown in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., '32 percent individuals sleep'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and punctuation. Try to incorporate a mix of simple and complex sentences, and pay close attention to verb tenses, ensuring they are consistent when describing past data.
