Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you identify some trends, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the main features. You mention specific percentages, but the comparisons are often vague or inaccurate (e.g., stating the percentage of working adults increased without providing the data). Several key categories from the charts are omitted or described unclearly. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the most significant changes and support all claims with accurate data from the charts. The response is also slightly under-length, which limits your ability to fully develop the required points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. The paragraphing is insufficient, as the response is essentially one block of text. While you use some cohesive devices like 'In 1958' and 'However', the progression of ideas is disjointed. The final sentence is fragmented and lacks proper punctuation, which disrupts the flow of information. To improve, organize your response into a clear introduction, a body paragraph focusing on the main trends, and a concluding overview. Ensure that each sentence connects logically to the next using a variety of linking words, and avoid ending with incomplete or poorly punctuated sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'the largest share' and 'the percentage of people increased'. There are also instances of awkward word choices, such as 'cherry to travel' and 'showed down ward trend', which hinder clarity. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but it is not used with enough precision to convey the data accurately. To improve, focus on using a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant decline', and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the major change that can be noted the percentage... declined', and missing prepositions or articles. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the final sentence: 'Overall, the significant change was in working and sleeping.and also going out'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct punctuation. Proofreading for these fundamental errors will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
