Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant comparisons between the two years. You covered all categories shown in the charts and highlighted the most significant changes, such as the rise in working hours and the decline in socialising. However, the report could be improved by including more precise data comparisons. For instance, while you mention the percentage for working, you could explicitly contrast the growth or decline of all categories more effectively to show a clearer overview. The summary is accurate, but ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the years provided to avoid any ambiguity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organised with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'however', 'whereas', and 'respectively' to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother; some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Additionally, ensure that referencing is precise—for example, when you mention 'last position', it would be clearer to state 'the lowest percentage' to improve the professional tone of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'allocated for', 'accounted for', and 'maintained the second position' are used effectively. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'employeed' (employed), 'noticable' (noticeable), and 'plaving' (playing). While these do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'most amount of time was allocated' (the largest amount) and 'reaching to a last position' (reaching the last position). Additionally, 'accounted no significant chage' is grammatically incorrect and should be 'showed no significant change'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not cause difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on article usage (the/a) and prepositional phrases to ensure your sentences are error-free and more fluent.
