Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the charts, including the main trends and comparisons. You successfully identified the most significant changes, such as the increase in work time and the decrease in sleep. However, the overview is slightly weak; while it mentions work, it could be more comprehensive by highlighting the most dramatic shifts across all categories. The data is generally accurate, though the phrasing 'figure experienced threefold decrease' is slightly imprecise regarding the actual data. Overall, the response provides a clear summary of the information provided in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific data points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. For instance, the transition between sentences often relies on simple repetition of subjects rather than varied linking words or referencing. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow could be improved by using more sophisticated connectors to link the comparisons between 1958 and 2008 more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, such as 'illustrates', 'accounted for', and 'steady'. There are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'contributed more time for work' (should be 'spent more time on work') and '32% from their time' (should be '32% of their time'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. Attempting to use more varied reporting verbs and adverbs would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'while spent least time to travelling' (should be 'while spending the least time traveling') and 'playing sports stay steady' (should be 'remained steady'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the missing space in '25%at'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
