Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. You successfully identified the key trends, such as the increase in working hours and the significant decline in social activities. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, you mention that people in 1958 had a 'proper work-life balance' compared to 2008, which is an interpretation that borders on subjective commentary rather than objective reporting. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are strictly data-driven and that you highlight the most significant shifts more clearly, perhaps by grouping the categories that increased versus those that decreased.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Although' to link ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or misused, such as starting a sentence with 'Although' when it is not followed by a main clause, or using 'Contrasting situation can be seen' which feels a bit unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of referencing and substitution to avoid repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant drop', 'percentages', and 'daily life'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'people from both the time period' should be 'both time periods', and 'rather then' is a spelling error for 'rather than'. Additionally, phrases like 'proper work life balance' are slightly informal for an Academic Task 1 report. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word forms are consistently accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'people seems to work' (subject-verb agreement), 'there is a significant drop shows' (incorrect verb form), and 'for this two years' (pluralization error). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and plural forms. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your score.
