Student answer (Band 5.5)
The pie charts elucidate the difference between the proportion of time spent in different things by adults in a specific country in the year 1958 and 2008. Overall there are types of colours denoted to daily work of a normal earning person. It is seen that the majority of the time in both the charts is spent in working and least in travelling to workplace.
In year 1958 the sleeping schedule was covering almorst a third part of the area meanwhile going out with friends and family constitutes upto 19 percent and rest playing a game or sport is less than 7 percent.
however by taking a look at 2008 graph, quality time with friends and family got reduce to 6 percent as compare to prior one and opting for sports and transport contributes equally of around one tenth of the day. Relaxing at home significantly covers less than sleeping but greater than other factors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, but the analysis is incomplete and lacks precision. While you identify the majority and minority activities, the comparisons are often vague or inaccurate. For example, stating that 'quality time with friends and family got reduce to 6 percent' lacks a clear reference to the 1958 data for context. Furthermore, the description of the 2008 data is somewhat confusing, particularly the claim that sports and transport contribute 'equally of around one tenth'. A more systematic approach, grouping data logically and ensuring all key figures are accurately reported, would improve the score significantly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow of ideas is sometimes disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and occasionally mechanical, such as the abrupt transition 'however by taking a look at 2008 graph'. The referencing is also unclear at times; for instance, 'prior one' is a weak way to refer back to the 1958 chart. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'elucidate the difference between the proportion of time spent in different things' and 'types of colours denoted to daily work'. The phrase 'got reduce' is grammatically incorrect and demonstrates a lack of control over verb forms. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'accounted for', or 'remained constant', and ensure your word choices are more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there are types of colours denoted to daily work' and 'as compare to prior one'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly the lack of commas after introductory phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy and overall grammatical range.
