Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting. For instance, you state that sleeping experienced a decline from 32% to 25%, but the charts show it changed from 32% to 25% (which is correct), yet you also claim 'all activities witnessed significant growth' except sleeping and going out, which is a confusing generalization. Furthermore, you misidentify the group as 'youngster' instead of 'working adults'. While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision in data interpretation and the misidentification of the subject matter prevent a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In addition to this', 'Looking first at', and 'By contrast'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the capitalization errors ('IN 1958') and the punctuation issues around 'While, going out'. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow is occasionally interrupted by these minor mechanical errors. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'dominant segment', and 'dramatically'. However, there are several word choice and collocation errors, such as 'represented for sharp fall' (should be 'represented a sharp fall') and 'working activity' (should be 'working'). Additionally, the term 'youngster' is inappropriate for the context of 'working adults'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, the errors in collocation and the misuse of specific terms limit the score to the 6.0 band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including capitalization issues ('Overall, It is clearly evident', 'IN 1958'), subject-verb agreement issues, and incorrect article usage. For example, 'experienced an decline' should be 'experienced a decline'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. You have attempted some complex structures, but the lack of consistent accuracy in basic grammar and punctuation is a recurring issue throughout the text.
