Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the data, including the main trends and specific comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You successfully identified the increases in working and travelling, as well as the decreases in sleeping and socialising. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the major shifts. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurately attributed to the correct years; for instance, you mentioned '1958 and 2008' when describing the 33% to 42% increase, but the phrasing could be more precise to avoid ambiguity. Overall, the task is well-addressed with relevant data selection.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific data points. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Following that' and 'respectively', to link information. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother; some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Additionally, the use of 'Following that' is a bit mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is consistently clear would help elevate the flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'declined', and 'noticeable drop'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'habits of spending their time has been changed' (should be 'habits... have changed') and 'deceased' (which means died; you likely meant 'decreased'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would strengthen your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Both pie charts display how working adults habits... has been changed' (subject-verb agreement and passive voice issues) and 'as of relaxing at home' (incorrect prepositional phrase). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. The attempt at complex structures is evident, but accuracy needs to be more consistent.
