Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to accurately report the data provided in the prompt. You have misidentified the years (using 1948 instead of 1958) and misinterpreted the categories (e.g., 'going out of country' instead of 'leisure' or 'socializing'). The task requires a clear summary of the main features, but your report is fragmented and contains significant factual inaccuracies. Furthermore, you refer to 'young people' and 'youth' throughout, whereas the prompt specifically refers to 'working adults'. To improve, ensure you carefully read the labels on the charts and report the data precisely as presented, rather than making assumptions about the demographics or activities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. The introduction is informal and unnecessary, and the paragraphing is erratic, with large gaps and inconsistent spacing. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Overall', the progression of ideas is disjointed. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure that cohesive devices are used to link related ideas rather than just starting new, disconnected sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'going out of country' to describe leisure time and 'relaxing and sleeping generation' are unnatural and do not accurately reflect the data. There is also a lack of variety in reporting verbs and comparative language. You rely on basic terms like 'ratio' and 'working hours' repeatedly. To reach a higher band, you should use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'experienced a rise', or 'remained stable', and avoid informal phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles (e.g., 'in 2008, we see adults'), incorrect punctuation (e.g., spaces before commas), and subject-verb agreement issues. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. The misuse of capitalization and the fragmented nature of the sentences impede the flow of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including the correct use of articles and prepositions, and practice combining simple sentences into more complex structures using subordinating conjunctions.
