Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie charts provide information on how working adults in particular country spent their time in 1958 and 2008.
Overall, in 1958 people mostly spent their maximum time in working and sleeping, while they used little time in traveling to their work. In contrast, working time exceeded in 2008 while sleeping time became short and traveling time rose than it was in 1958.
In 1958, usually workers spent their most of the time in working and sleeping activities, accounting for 33% and 32%, respectively. Going out with friends and family stood on 19%. Followed by 8% and 6% in relaxing at home and in playing sports, accordingly. Workers usually spent very little time of about 2% in travelling.
In contrast, working time rose to 42% in 2008, sleeping time fell to 25%. In 2008, time for relaxing at home accounted for 13% of total time. In comparison, time for going out with family or friends reduced to 6%. Travelling time increased to 7% in 2008, following 7% time for playing sports.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the data and provides a clear overview. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the increase in working time and the decrease in sleeping time. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the two years rather than listing the data for each year separately. For example, instead of stating the 2008 figures in isolation, you could explicitly contrast them with the 1958 data to highlight the shift more effectively. The data is generally accurate, though ensure that all figures are clearly linked to the specific categories mentioned in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In contrast' and 'In comparison' to signal shifts in the data. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. The use of 'accordingly' at the end of the third paragraph is slightly misused in this context, as it does not logically follow the preceding information. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used with greater precision would enhance the overall progression of your ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accounting for' and 'exceeded'. However, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'spent their maximum time' and 'sleeping time became short'. These choices are slightly unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'accounted for the largest proportion' or 'experienced a significant decline'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'in particular country' (missing an article), 'rose than it was' (incorrect comparative structure), and 'spent their most of the time' (incorrect determiner usage). Additionally, some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'following 7% time for playing sports'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on article usage and correct comparative forms will help improve your accuracy.
