Student answer (Band 5.5)

The pie chart illustrates the details of how working adults in a individual state spent their time in 1958 and 2008.

Overall, in working era exhibits maximum representation on both years and travelling to work displays minimum on both years.

The most higher ratio activity in pie chart is working in both year. Like in 1958, the working percentage is 33 percent but after numerous years working activity is being to expand and stop at the 42 percent. Second maximum activity is sleeping task. It gives the percentage of 32 in 1958 although in 2008 it much lesser and cease at 25%.

Working adults has no focus in going out with family or friends even the percentage level in both years is under 20%. The others activities like travelling to work, relaxing at home, and playing sports don't provides the enough percentage and all of them have the percentage below the 15% in both years.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the pie charts, such as the increase in working time and the decrease in sleeping time. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision in reporting figures. For example, stating 'after numerous years working activity is being to expand' is vague. The comparison between 1958 and 2008 is present, but the report would benefit from a more structured approach to grouping data. The overview provided is a bit simplistic and does not fully capture the significant shifts in the data. To improve, ensure that all key trends are clearly identified and supported with accurate data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'The most higher ratio activity' and 'Like in 1958' are awkward and do not effectively link ideas. The progression of information is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the third paragraph where the transition between the two years is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'whereas') would significantly enhance the flow and logical progression of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of unnatural word choices, such as 'individual state' instead of 'country', 'working era' instead of 'working hours', and 'sleeping task'. Some phrases are grammatically incorrect or awkward, such as 'don't provides the enough percentage'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precise terminology and the frequent errors in collocation prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terms related to data description would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Working adults has no focus', 'don't provides') and incorrect verb forms ('is being to expand'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the overall control of complex structures is weak. Many sentences are awkward or contain errors that, while not completely impeding communication, require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct verb tenses would help improve accuracy.
