Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately interpret the charts. You incorrectly identify the subjects as 'teenagers' and 'youngests' when the prompt specifies 'working adults'. Furthermore, the data reporting is inaccurate; for instance, you state that adults spent 32% and 25% on sleeping, but the charts show these figures for working. The comparison is also confusing, as you mention 'no more than 19 percent and 13 percent' without clearly labeling which categories these refer to. To improve, ensure you carefully read the labels on the axes and legends, and focus on reporting the most significant trends rather than listing isolated, sometimes incorrect, figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is followed by an overview that contains inaccurate information. The body paragraphs lack clear topic sentences and logical flow. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Contrarily', their usage is sometimes awkward or does not accurately reflect the relationship between the ideas. The referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow which data points correspond to which categories. Improving the structure by grouping related data points (e.g., categories that increased vs. decreased) would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'spent', 'used', and 'consumed' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'going with freinds' instead of 'socializing' or 'spending time with friends'. The phrase 'represents the similar phenomenon' is also unnatural in this context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'accounted for', 'witnessed a decline', or 'remained stable', and ensure that your terminology is precise and appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. You have issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'The least time they spent is 2 percent' (should be 'was'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'Overall, the'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'As they spent time 19 percent and 6 percent to going with freinds'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct tense usage and punctuation, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
