Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. However, the overview is somewhat simplistic and contains inaccuracies, such as stating that the 'sport' sector remained the same, which is a misinterpretation of the data. While the key trends are identified, the analysis lacks depth and the reporting of figures is repetitive. To improve, you should focus on grouping data more logically and ensuring that your summary accurately reflects the visual information provided in the diagrams.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'The pie graph shows that... The pie graph illustrates that...'). The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your ideas more fluidly, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increase' and 'decrease'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'going with family' and 'sectors working'. The range is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more varied verbs and nouns to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'proportion', and 'figure', and ensure you use them in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the sport sector remain same'), tense usage, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several spacing errors around punctuation marks. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are frequent and distract the reader. You should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for minor mechanical errors like spacing and capitalization.
