Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to cover the main features, but the analysis is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the statement that working 'remains maximum to all other activities' is unclear, and the description of the data is inconsistent. The report lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends, such as the shift from leisure to work-related activities. Several figures are mentioned, but the comparisons are poorly structured, making it difficult for the reader to follow the changes between 1958 and 2008. To improve, you should focus on grouping related data logically and ensuring that the comparisons are mathematically accurate and clearly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect, such as 'In the other hand' (should be 'On the other hand') and 'after passage of time'. The progression of ideas is disjointed, and the lack of clear linking words between sentences makes the flow of information feel repetitive. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly when discussing the percentages. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, central topic that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and form. Examples include 'time spended' (should be 'time spent'), 'old workers' (which is inappropriate for 'working adults'), and 'inclined' (used incorrectly to mean 'increased'). There is also a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the frequent errors in collocation and word formation hinder the sophistication of the response. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing trends—such as 'rose,' 'declined,' 'remained stable,' or 'fluctuated'—would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('pie graphs shows'), incorrect verb forms ('time spended'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and incorrect capitalization. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to cause strain for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions in a formal context.
