Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. Furthermore, the analysis is incomplete; the report stops after describing 1958, failing to provide any data or comparison for the 2008 chart. While the introduction and overview are present, the lack of coverage for the second half of the data means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are covered and that the response meets the length requirement to allow for a full development of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', which helps with the flow. However, the progression is interrupted by the premature ending of the response. Paragraphing is attempted, but the structure is underdeveloped due to the missing analysis of the 2008 data. The logical flow is clear in the initial sections, but the overall organisation is incomplete, preventing a coherent summary of the two charts as a whole.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and limited. Phrases like 'spent their time on' are used multiple times, which lacks variety. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'a very less time' (should be 'very little time') and 'a sports' (should be 'sports'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and proportions, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'a very less 2 and 7 percent' (incorrect usage of 'less' and 'a'), '32 % adults' (missing preposition 'of'), and 'going with families' (awkward phrasing). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are frequent and detract from the overall accuracy. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of quantifiers and prepositions.
