Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is significantly under-length at only 78 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. The overview is underdeveloped, and the response fails to report on several key categories shown in the charts, such as sleeping, working, or sports. Because the response is so brief, it cannot provide a comprehensive summary or make the necessary comparisons required by the prompt. To improve, you must ensure you cover all data categories and provide a more detailed analysis of the trends observed between the two years.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is too short to demonstrate a clear logical progression or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and an overview, the lack of development makes it difficult to assess the use of cohesive devices. The transition between the introduction and the overview is abrupt, and the lack of a concluding summary or further body paragraphs means the information is not arranged in a coherent, structured manner. You should aim to group related data points into distinct paragraphs to improve the flow and logical structure of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases such as 'largely changed' and 'more busy' are simplistic and lack the precision required for an Academic Task 1 response. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'taste in people's choice', which is unnatural. To achieve a higher band score, you should focus on using more precise terminology to describe trends, such as 'significant decline', 'proportion', or 'fluctuation'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you describe the data more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'working culture become more busy over the time' contains a tense error ('become' should be 'became') and an awkward phrasing ('over the time' should be 'over time'). Additionally, 'in single digit following 33% to straight in 6%' is grammatically incoherent and difficult to interpret. The range of sentence structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. You need to focus on using a wider variety of complex sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
