Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the data, including the main trends and comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You have successfully identified the most and least popular activities and highlighted significant changes, such as the rise in working hours and the decline in socialising. The overview is present and clear. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate; for instance, you mentioned 'working' was 33% in 1958, but the chart shows 33% for 'sleeping' and 32% for 'working'. Careful checking of the data against the visual aid is essential for accuracy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised, with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and a body paragraph detailing the specific data. You use some cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'however', and 'in addition' to link ideas. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraph could be smoother. Some referencing is slightly repetitive, and the paragraphing could be more balanced to ensure the flow of information is more sophisticated. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prevalent', 'prominent', 'dominent', and 'proportion'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'activites', 'adulds', 'sleeeping', 'althought', and 'dominent', which slightly detract from the professional tone. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies in spelling and occasional word choice issues (e.g., 'with account of') suggest a need for more careful proofreading. Expanding your range of collocations would help improve the precision of your descriptions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'weather its percentage has increased' (should be 'whether'), 'Going out... have dropped' (subject-verb agreement error, should be 'has'), and 'was account of' (should be 'accounted for'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede the reader's understanding of the data. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing statistical changes.
