Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear comparison between the two years. You covered all categories shown in the charts and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. The overview is present and highlights the most significant trends, such as the increase in working hours and the decline in socialising. To reach a higher band, ensure that your comparisons are more nuanced; for example, instead of just listing percentages, you could group activities by those that increased and those that decreased to provide a more analytical summary of the changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organised with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'furthermore', 'however', and 'although' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more effectively. For instance, the second body paragraph contains a lot of data points that could be better synthesised to improve the flow. The referencing is generally clear, but ensure that your sentences connect more naturally to avoid a list-like feel when reporting the figures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'prevalent', 'dominant', and 'proportion'. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'with an account of 33%' and 'whether its percentage has increased', which sound slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise reporting verbs and nouns related to data trends. Your spelling is accurate throughout the response, and the vocabulary used is appropriate for the task, even if it lacks the sophistication required for the highest bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are some grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'the total proportion of those who participate in sports was also 7%' (which is slightly wordy) and 'the least popular activity which was travelling for work was accounting for 2%'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, work on reducing wordiness and ensuring that your relative clauses and verb tenses are used with greater precision. Increasing the variety of your sentence structures will also help you achieve a higher score.
