Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the pie charts, including the most significant changes over the 50-year period. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data. However, the response lacks a clear structure; it is written as a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure you group related data points more logically—for example, grouping the activities that increased versus those that decreased—and provide a more analytical comparison rather than just listing the figures. The conclusion is also somewhat redundant as it simply restates the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks paragraphing, which is essential for a clear, logical progression of ideas in IELTS Task 1. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'Along with', the overall flow is somewhat mechanical. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, and the lack of clear paragraph breaks makes the text feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use separate paragraphs for the introduction/overview, the main trends, and the specific comparisons.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey the necessary information clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'time distribution' and 'time consumption'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'lots of changes' and 'rise and fall' are quite basic. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'fluctuations', 'significant shift', or 'remained stable', and ensure your collocations are natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'There has been lots of changes' should be 'There have been many changes', and 'in regard of' is non-standard; 'with regard to' would be more appropriate. Additionally, there are issues with article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'utilized by working'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of your writing.
