Student answer (Band 6.0)
These pie charts illustrates comparison among working adults in a particular country, showing how they used to spend their time in years 1958 and 2008 in various categories: working, relaxing at home, sleeping, travel to work, going out with friends or family, and sports respectively.
A shocking strive is seen in both the pie charts in working category, followed by sleeping in both years. Travelling to work has been a least preferred activity to spend time at in both the years of 1958 and 2008 among professional adults. Relaxing at home, playing sports, and hanging out with friends and/or family has been a fairly moderate activity to spend time of the day.
In year 1958, working activity accounts for 33% whereas by the year 2008 it has reached to 42%, showing that people are more occupied now. Due to which going out with friends is reduced to 6% in 2008 while in 1958 when work pressure was less, going out with friends margined with 19%. Similarly with less work load in 1958, sleeping time was 32% which now has been reduced to 25% in 2008. Playing sports is fairly similar around 7%. Moreover no major difference is seen in travelling to work as in 1958 it scored 2% and in 2008, it showed 7%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully identifies the main features and makes relevant comparisons between the two years. You have highlighted key trends, such as the increase in working hours and the corresponding decrease in sleep and social activities. However, the overview is somewhat weak; while you mention a 'shocking strive' (likely meaning 'shift'), it would be more effective to clearly state the most significant overall trends in an introductory summary paragraph. Additionally, some data points are described with slightly imprecise language, such as 'margined with 19%', which makes the comparison less clear. Overall, you have covered the requirements well, but more precise data reporting would improve the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, a summary of trends, and a detailed body paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally clear, and you use some cohesive devices like 'similarly', 'moreover', and 'due to which' to link your points. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced, such as 'Due to which going out with friends is reduced'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing could be improved by separating the general overview from the specific data analysis to enhance the flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'professional adults', 'occupied', and 'moderate activity'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors that hinder precision. For example, 'shocking strive' is not a standard collocation for describing a trend, and 'margined with 19%' is confusing. You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'significant increase', 'dramatic shift', or 'remained relatively stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Subject-verb agreement issues are present, such as 'These pie charts illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'working activity accounts' (should be 'accounted'). There are also issues with preposition usage and article placement, such as 'in years 1958' instead of 'in the years 1958'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency.
