Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features and provided relevant comparisons between the two years. The overview clearly highlights the most significant trends, such as the increase in working hours and the decline in social activities. You have included data to support your points, which is essential for Task 1. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are accurate and avoid minor inaccuracies in reporting, such as the slight confusion in the phrasing of 'going out with family' versus 'friends'. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task well and provides a clear summary of the provided information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview paragraph, and two body paragraphs that group information effectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Finally', and 'It is clear that' to guide the reader through the data. While the flow is generally good, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs is smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow the comparison of data over time.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'accounted for', and 'gained popularity'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most spent activity' (should be 'most time-consuming activity') and 'contributing to 7 percent share' (which is slightly awkward). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your collocations are natural. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist, such as 'proportion of activities done by employed adults to spent the day' (should be 'to spend') and 'account for just 6%' (should be 'accounted for'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and tense inconsistencies. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data will help improve your accuracy.
