To commence with, in 1958, 33% and 32% time of individuals was on working and sleeping, respectively. Followed by 19% time consumed in going out with kith or kin. 8% of time was utilized for relaxing at home, while only 2% time was spent for commuting to work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You successfully identified the key trends, such as the increase in working time and the decrease in leisure activities. However, the report could be improved by providing a more analytical overview. While you mention the main trends, the data presentation is somewhat mechanical, listing percentages without fully synthesizing the information. For instance, grouping the categories into 'work-related' and 'leisure' would have provided a more sophisticated summary. Additionally, ensure accuracy in data reporting; for example, you stated sleeping fell to a quarter, but the chart shows 25%, which is exactly a quarter, not a 'fall to' a quarter from a previous state.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a summary. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'In 2008', which help the flow. However, some transitions feel slightly repetitive or mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the progression of ideas could be smoother. For example, the transition between the 2008 data and the overall summary is abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is clear would improve the cohesion. Overall, the structure is clear and easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportions', 'consumed', and 'utilized'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'data has been given in percentile' is incorrect; it should be 'percentages'. 'Kith or kin' is an idiom that is generally too informal or archaic for an Academic Task 1 report. Additionally, 'ratio of sleeping time' is not the most precise way to describe a percentage. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring collocations are natural and appropriate for the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as '33% and 32% time of individuals was on working', which is awkward phrasing. The sentence 'Followed by 19% time consumed...' is a sentence fragment. Additionally, there are minor errors with prepositions and articles, such as 'in percentile' instead of 'in percentages'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and sentence completeness will help improve your accuracy.
