Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear, accurate summary of the data. The description of the pie charts is often confusing and inaccurate; for example, the claim that 'working condition is favourable' is an interpretation not supported by the data, and the figures cited (e.g., '19% increment') are unclear. The response lacks a clear overview of the main trends, focusing instead on disjointed details. The analysis of the data is inconsistent, and the conclusion does not effectively synthesize the information. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant changes between 1958 and 2008 and reporting the data objectively without adding personal commentary or subjective interpretations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'However', and 'Furthermore', they are often used inappropriately or do not connect ideas logically. The progression of information is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. Paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence, as sentences often jump between different data points without a clear thematic focus. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the clarity of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'saleeping' (spelling error), 'lazy behaviour', and 'effecting conditions', which do not accurately describe the data. The vocabulary is repetitive and lacks the precision required for a Task 1 report. Some phrases are awkward, such as 'plateaued work constituted of 32%'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'increased significantly', 'remained stable', or 'accounted for', and ensure that your spelling and word choice are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'adults shows', 'working condition is'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures. The use of complex sentences is limited and often results in errors, such as 'although the pie charts explain fundamental effects exceed in year 2008'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing or misplaced commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors. Practicing the use of complex structures in a more controlled manner will help improve both accuracy and range.
