Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the data well, identifying key trends such as the increase in working hours and the decrease in time spent sleeping and socializing. However, the overview is slightly fragmented due to the incomplete sentence at the end of the first paragraph. While the main trends are highlighted, the response lacks a concluding summary or a more cohesive synthesis of the data. The comparison between the two years is clear, but the analysis could be more developed to reach a higher band by grouping related categories more effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'In contrast to this', and 'Furthermore' are used to link sentences. However, the flow is interrupted by a significant error in the first paragraph where a sentence is left unfinished ('In contrast to this, in the year'), which creates a jarring effect. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the mechanical nature of some transitions and the incomplete sentence prevent a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe the data clearly. Phrases like 'inverse relationship', 'allocated to', and 'increased to' are used correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying heavily on simple structures to describe changes. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations that would demonstrate a higher level of control. The vocabulary is functional but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most sentences are grammatically accurate, and the meaning is always clear. However, there are issues with punctuation and sentence structure, most notably the incomplete sentence fragment in the first paragraph. Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error with a space before a comma ('In contrast to this ,'). While the errors do not impede communication, the lack of a wider variety of complex structures and the presence of basic errors limit the score.
