Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided pie charts. However, the data interpretation is frequently inaccurate. For example, you state that in 1958, people spent 33% of their time working and sleeping, whereas the charts show different values. Furthermore, the claim that 2008 citizens are 'more self-centered' is an inappropriate subjective interpretation for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires objective data reporting. While you identify some key features, the lack of precision in reporting the figures and the inclusion of irrelevant personal commentary prevent a higher score. To improve, focus strictly on the data provided and ensure your comparisons are mathematically accurate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is often hindered by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'Besides this their barely time runs' are difficult to follow, and the connection between sentences is often mechanical or confusing. While you use some cohesive devices, they are frequently used incorrectly or in a way that obscures the meaning. To improve, focus on using simple, clear linking words like 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' or 'Similarly' to connect your ideas logically rather than relying on complex structures that you are not yet comfortable with.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited and contains frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'dipits' (depicts), 'diffrent' (different), 'obbsesd' (obsessed), and 'ninteenth century' (which is factually incorrect for the year 1958). These errors occasionally impede communication, making it difficult for the reader to understand the intended meaning. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use precise terminology for describing trends or data. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common words and practice using academic collocations, such as 'a significant proportion' or 'remained stable,' rather than informal or inaccurate phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people and 2008 people have same ratio'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. There is a lack of control over complex sentence structures, and the attempts to use them often result in ungrammatical or confusing phrasing, such as 'too add too this other 20% of their day devided into 3 diffrent activies'. While the meaning is sometimes clear, the persistent errors in basic grammar significantly impact the readability of the text. Focus on mastering simple sentence structures before attempting more complex ones to ensure accuracy.
