Student answer (Band 4.0)

So, in pie chart showing that in 1958 peoples were going to there work only 33%. Relaxing at home 8% , sleeping 32% , traveling to work 2% , going out with friends/ family 19% . This shows that occupation is equal in both sides the way of living is changed . As in 2008 peoples are more concentrated to there works. Relaxing is less only 13% , sleeping is 25% , travelling to work 7% , going out to with friends and family 6% , playing sports 7% , as we compared both then 2008 is more competitive to 1958 . They are more concentrated to their works as in 2008 rules and regulations are also perfect in this time and if we see salary it is also perfect in this time . If we see the 1958 peoples then occupation is not much concerned with the work .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to provide a clear overview or a structured summary of the data. While it lists some figures, it lacks a logical comparison of the main trends. The inclusion of personal opinions, such as 'rules and regulations are also perfect in this time' and 'salary it is also perfect', is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which requires an objective analysis of the provided data. The response does not effectively highlight the significant shifts in time allocation, such as the change in working hours or the introduction of new categories like 'playing sports' in 2008. Consequently, the response does not fully address the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks paragraphing and logical progression. Ideas are presented as a disjointed list of figures rather than a cohesive report. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link the data points or contrast the two years. The transition between the 1958 data and the 2008 data is abrupt, and the concluding sentences are confusing and do not follow logically from the preceding information. The overall structure is disorganized, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms such as 'peoples', 'works', and 'perfect'. There is a lack of precise terminology required to describe statistical data, such as 'proportion', 'percentage', 'increased', 'decreased', or 'remained stable'. The misuse of words like 'occupation' to refer to time spent working further limits the clarity of the report. To improve, the student needs to learn topic-specific vocabulary related to describing charts and trends.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('peoples were', 'occupation is equal'), incorrect word forms ('peoples' instead of 'people'), and awkward sentence structures. The use of punctuation is also problematic, with many sentences being run-on or fragmented. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the basic sentences used are often inaccurate. The high frequency of errors makes the text difficult to read and understand.
