Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data, but there are significant issues with accuracy and interpretation. You incorrectly identify the subjects as 'youngsters' and 'offspring' rather than 'working adults,' which misrepresents the data. Furthermore, several figures are miscalculated or misstated, such as claiming the percentage of time spent working increased by 9% when the data shows a different trend, and stating that relaxing 'became double' without clear evidence. While you identify some main features, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the misidentification of the population group prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully read the prompt and double-check your data extraction against the provided charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by inaccurate data reporting and awkward phrasing. While you use some cohesive devices like 'In addition,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Moreover,' they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately given the context of the sentences. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between ideas is disrupted by the factual errors mentioned in the task achievement section. To improve, focus on ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one and that your cohesive devices are used to connect related ideas rather than just acting as sentence starters.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and contains several inappropriate word choices. Using terms like 'youngsters' and 'offspring' to describe 'working adults' is inaccurate and inappropriate for an academic report. There are also spelling errors such as 'thier' (their), 'intresting' (interested), 'realaxing' (relaxing), and 'decreced' (decreased). The phrase 'decreced fastly' is also non-standard. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise, academic vocabulary and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation. Avoid informal or incorrect terminology when describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies on a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'THE PROVIDED PIE CHART ILLUSTRATES THE INFORMATION HOW...' (missing 'about'), 'OFFSPRINGS ALLOCATE THIER MOST OF THE TIME AT WORKING' (incorrect pluralization and preposition use), and 'ADULTS HAV THE SAME PERCENTAGE' (spelling). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. These errors are frequent and occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common spelling and punctuation mistakes.
