Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, such as the increase in working time and the decrease in sleeping time. However, the report is repetitive, as the student describes the same data points in two separate sections rather than synthesising the information into a cohesive overview and detailed body paragraphs. The data reporting is sometimes inaccurate or confusing, such as the claim that 'playing sports remained same' while also mentioning different percentages. The overview is weak and lacks a clear, concise summary of the most significant trends. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring all comparisons are clearly supported by the provided figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. It is divided into two distinct parts that essentially repeat the same information, which disrupts the flow of the response. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate the overview from the supporting details. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'On the other hand', they are often used mechanically or incorrectly. The lack of clear progression between ideas makes the response difficult to follow. To improve, organize the essay into a clear introduction, an overview of the main trends, and two distinct body paragraphs that group related data points together.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'huge downfall', 'time taken to the work place', and 'playing sports' are basic and sometimes unnatural. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'the working working is the dominant' and 'the proportion have changed'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate precision or flexibility. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more varied and precise terminology to describe trends, such as 'a significant decline', 'commute time', or 'a substantial increase', and ensure that collocations are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the proportion have changed'), incorrect verb tenses ('use to spent'), and missing articles or prepositions. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before periods and commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like tense consistency. Developing a wider range of complex structures, such as using subordinate clauses correctly, will also help improve your score.
