Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While you identified some main features, such as the rise in working hours and the decline in sleeping hours, the analysis is superficial. Several categories from the charts are omitted, and the comparison between the two years is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you cover all data categories and provide a more comprehensive overview of the trends. The under-length nature of the response prevents a higher score, as the task is only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt or missing, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is not clearly marked. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas more fluidly. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus to improve the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and non-standard phrasing, such as 'spenting their time specific in category' and 'all group advances their time'. These errors occasionally make the meaning difficult to follow. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable'. Focus on using words in their correct context and avoid literal translations from your native language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('all group advances'), incorrect tense usage ('similar trend seen'), and awkward sentence construction ('the sleeping hours witnessesd the value got down'). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns before attempting more complex ones. Pay close attention to verb tenses when describing past data and ensure that your subjects and verbs agree in number.
