Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully identifies the main features of the pie charts and makes relevant comparisons between 1958 and 2008. You have provided a clear overview and supported the main points with data from the charts. However, there is a minor inaccuracy in the data reporting: you stated that 'socialization with family and friend declined considerably to 6%', whereas the charts show a decline to 19% (the 6% figure refers to sports). Additionally, the description of the 1958 data is slightly repetitive in its phrasing. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are transcribed with absolute precision and that the overview highlights the most significant trends more sharply.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. You have used some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'However', and 'In 1958', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more varied. For instance, the transition between the description of 1958 and 2008 could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information is grouped logically by year, which is a standard and effective approach for this type of task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, including terms like 'proportion', 'significantly', and 'considerably'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'time spending' instead of 'time spent' and 'decline to 25% only' (where 'only' is slightly informal). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the phrasing is occasionally awkward, such as 'spent their maximum time in working'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence structures when describing data trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'the comparison of proportion of time spent on by workers' (awkward preposition usage) and 'sleeping constitute' (subject-verb agreement error). Additionally, 'Time spent for sleeping decline' should be 'declined' to maintain consistent past tense. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and ensuring consistent tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
