Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task by summarizing the pie charts, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight significant trends effectively. The data presentation is fragmented and lacks a logical selection of key features. For instance, the comparison between 1958 and 2008 is often confusing, such as the mention of 'traveling for our work' without providing the 1958 figure. The response lacks analytical depth, merely listing percentages rather than synthesizing the information to show how time allocation shifted over the fifty-year period. To improve, focus on grouping related data and identifying the most striking changes, such as the increase in working hours versus the decrease in sleep.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion, but the internal flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inaccurate, such as 'Second traveling for our work' and 'After that the second last is'. These transitions do not effectively link ideas or guide the reader through the data. Furthermore, the paragraphing is insufficient, as the entire body of data is crammed into one long, repetitive paragraph. The referencing is also unclear, making it difficult to follow the comparison between the two years.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic structures like 'spent their time' and 'is about'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'hoe adults works' (instead of 'how adults work') and 'citizens was spent a lot of his time'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the data with precision. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of verbs and nouns related to data description, such as 'allocated', 'accounted for', 'witnessed a rise', or 'remained stable'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'citizens was spent', 'adults spent his most of time') and sentence structure. The use of complex sentences is very limited, and the existing sentences are often poorly constructed or fragmented. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or contrastive conjunctions.
